A clearer picture of the quality labels

Use the film, edition and screen together when making a choice.

480p, 720p and 1080p

Resolution describes picture dimensions, not the movie’s language or story. For HD streaming, inspect the offer in the application you intend to use. A title card cannot demonstrate the resolution that application will deliver on your device.

A stable picture can be preferable to a setting that repeatedly interrupts the scene. Use the player’s supported quality choices and observe the result. Catalogue search filters select films, not a bitrate.

2160p 4K and 60fps are different

4K concerns resolution; frames per second concerns motion sampling. A 60fps label does not establish a 4K picture, and 4K does not imply that the original film was made at 60 frames per second. The selected edition and player should identify what they actually support.

A television’s motion setting is also different from a film’s source frame rate. If movement looks unfamiliar, inspect the television’s settings as well as the application. Do not assume an unusually smooth image is evidence of additional original film detail.

HDR is not a synonym for more pixels

High dynamic range concerns the supported picture format and display response, not simply a larger resolution number. Check the service’s device guidance for its offered edition. A dark scene that is difficult to see is not fixed merely by finding another poster marked 4K.

300MB, HEVC and container names

Size, encoding and container labels answer different questions. A small file request does not identify which soundtracks it contains. The chosen viewing app is where supported download quality, storage and compatibility should be checked. No fixed-size movie files are supplied here.

Player features depend on the player

Picture-in-Picture, keyboard commands, playback speed, adaptive quality and subtitle styling may be available in the chosen application. Use the controls it actually exposes. This catalogue does not claim to operate those features in an embedded player.

Named watch buttons open JustWatch searches. Choose your country and the matching title, then inspect the offered edition.
